Anna Pitt

Anna Pitt is a writer and speaker on green living and the circular economy. She is passionate about waste reduction and is currently researching the ins and outs of recycling in the UK for a book series. She writes two eco-themed blogs: and and runs the Dustbin Diet workshops.

Her first book, 101 Ways to Live Cleaner and Greener for Free, was published in 2012.

Anna spent more than twenty years working as a systems analyst. A systems analyst's mind is trained to look at the way we do things and see ways in which we we can improve the 'system'. The way we deal with waste is a system - a system that is undergoing much improvement in recent years but still has to get a lot better if we are to live sustainably. Anna's mission is to encourage the next generation to think about finding and demanding better systems for waste.

Anna holds a BA (Hons) in French and Education from Froebel College in London and a Masters degree in Creative Writing and New Media from De Montfort University in Leicester. She holds the City & Guilds 7306 Further and Adult Teachers' Certificate.

Anna has taught in community education, managed an adult learning centre and done outreach work to encourage uptake of basic skills courses. She is a member of the London Environmental Educators Forum (LEEF) and Sustainability and Environmental Education (SEEd).
